Grandma Comes to Town

Grandma came to visit today. We ran some last minute errands and decorated cookies. Needless to say, Mai had a great time. "Ho ho ho"

Christmas Break with our friends

It is only the 2nd official day of Christmas break and Mai has been busy traveling with Mommy seeing all her friends. Last week, Mai got to spend the day with her great grandma, Ma. Ma and Howard are always busy traveling the world, so Mai really enjoys when she gets to spend the day with her.



We went to Gainesville for the weekend and Mai saw her friends Laura and Tyson (Tysie), Nichole and Madi, Aunt Judy, Aunt Abbie, Cousin Emily, Mimi, Great Grandma and Grandpa. It sure was a busy weekend. We even got to catch our friend Mailande Moran before she zipped off to Dubai and Zambia before going back to Duke to finish her MBA.

Whoa Big Boy

31 weeks, 3 days and Baby Boy is weighing in at 4pounds 11ounces. Looks like we will be having a big boy unless he decides to come early. Doubt it though, he's feeling pretty comfy. Baby T has been taking his time the past week or two to move as much as possible and stretch the place out so he has more living space. Momma is getting big and enjoying all the crazy movement!

Dancing Machine

Mailande was my side kick at the 4th and 5th grade social tonight. She was a dancin' machine. I literally had to drag her out of the crowds of kids. She was too funny. Wish I had brought my video camera.

LOVE

We had an amazing Thanksgiving with our family and enjoyed lots of time together! Daddy and I put in new floors and painted the office. Now to get new furniture and our new grown up office and photography studio will be done. Merry (early) Christmas to us!! (pictures to come once its complete)

Baking Muffins

Mailande was my big helper today as we painted the office and then rewarded ourselves with blueberry muffins. She is a serious little baker. Lol

Bye Bye Binky

Before Baby Thomas gets here there are lots of things I'd like to do with Mailande to help her prepare to be a Big Sister. These things include:
1. potty training
2. moving out of the crib and into a big girl bed
3. giving up her binky

Tonight on a whim, I decided we should attempt a binky-less night. This way mommy could have a sleepless wkend and all of next week while on break from work. I put Mai down and she was very confused by the lack of binky. It has only been used for bedtime, so the two go hand in hand. She fake cried for about 15 minutes while turning her seahorse music player on again and again. With the music playing, I could tell she was trying to calm herself down. 15 minutes in and she was fast asleep. I'm hoping the rest of the night is just as smooth.

I do have to admit, now that she is asleep, I am feeling a little teary eyed myself about all these big girl changes that Mailande is making. Guess it means she really is growing up. So proud of my sweet baby girl, just wish I could freeze her at this age for a little bit longer.

Early Risers

We were all looking forward to a lazy veteran's day weekend. Instead the whole family was up at 5:30am every morning. Lots of snuggling on the couch for us.

Baby Thomas

Baby Thomas has been hanging out in mommy's tummy for 6 whole months! Only 3 months till we get to see his sweet face! We are all so excited.

Happy Halloween

18 months

We went to the doctor for Mailande's 18th month checkup. She was such a big girl, checking on the crying babies, walking the hallways, and flirting and talking with all the doctors and nurses.

Length: 30.5inches
Weight: 20.6lbs (up from the 1st to the 6th percentile)

The doctor was so pleased with Mailande and said that he was very surprised that she wasn't in daycare. He said he had great social skills and was such a well behaved girl. She received 4 shots and took them like a big girl. Her eyes got real wide at the nurse and then she snuggled in my arms with about 30 seconds of tears before she was back to her normal self. Mailande also learned a new word at the doctor's office, "no". She has said that more in the last 3 hours than I think any other word in her whole life. Silly little girl.

Shots

Mai got her 18 month shots yesterday and is enjoying a snuggle fest with mommy and a 102.5 fever today. Sweetest sick baby.

Tea Party with Friends

Grandma McKeeby bought Mai a tea set and she had a blast sharing it with all her "friends". She loved eating pretend food and was very interested with sharing and interacting with her "friends". I think next time, real people might be necessary. Mai was not too happy that Creepy and Bear refused to eat and drink. Everyone is invited over for a tea party.

Creepy

When Kendahl left our house the other day, she told me there was a note hidden somewhere for me to find. About an hour after she left, I came across Creepy, a life size doll that someone gave Mailande. Mailande loves the doll, even if it creeps everyone else out. On her face was the note from Kendahl. Mailande started to cry and was so upset that someone had put something on Creepy's face.
I ripped the note off, laughing hysterically and trying to calm Mailande down, but she was too upset by my laughing to be bothered by me. She laid Creepy down, wiped her face, and gave her the biggest hugs and kisses I've ever seen.
That baby may be silly like mommy, but I think she is sensitive like her Daddy. It was one of the sweetest things. She kept hugging her and wiping her face to make sure she was ok. We have such a sweet baby girl (and a hilarious babysitter).
